It's all about the perception. How you see it, how I see it, and how does somebody not in our circle see it? The art critic Robert Cumming thought the painting by the Renaissance master Lippi looked wrong, with Saints Dominic and Jerome looking awkward. He then had the epiphany that he was looking at it at eye level and realized that it was meant to be viewed from a position of prayer. As soon as he knelt, everything looked right. What perspective am I offering? I always try to remember this.
